2009 Chester County Wizards 14U - Head Coach: Jim Hegarty

2009 Season

The 2009 Chester County Wizards U14 Division II team had another very successful year. The team played a very tough Division I schedule and won over 70% of all their games despite sustaining injuries to key players for most of the year including the Regional tournament. The U14 team went on to finish 3rd at the Mid Atlantic Regionals (a tribute to all the players who were not injured) and qualified for Nationals in Hampton, Virginia. At Nationals, the team was very focused on and off the court and demonstrated their commitment to excellence by winning their respective bracket and eventually finishing 8th in the country.

Coach Jim Hegarty

Jim Hegarty assisted Shawn Dougherty for 2 years in Division II. Each year the team has qualified for Nationals, this last year winning the Mid Atlantic Div. II Region and finishing 9th at Nationals. Jim has also coached CYO at SS. Philip and James.

Jim enjoys the competition and intensity of AAU. He enjoys the challenge of identifying the girls' strengths and putting them into positions where they can succeed as players. Jim's goal for the girls is for them to play at the next level of basketball. Jim believes in hard work so while trying to make practice fun, the girls practice hard. This hard work paid off this last year with 50 plus wins.
